Well, I just had to do a re-install to fix a printing problem. Everything else I tried just made matters worse!
Although I could have done without it, it struck me how easy it was to get back to business as usual very quickly! All it takes is a little planning beforehand, some knowledge and experience and you can have a system that is pretty indistinguishable from the one you broke in 2-3 hours probably! Yet another testament to the usability of Mepis in particular and Linux in general!

In addition it was great that I could boot the Live CD using the aufs read/write option to apply all the available updates. I could then ensure that fully installed, it would behave as expected. There really are quite a few unsung bonus features with M8!

I agree, it is amazingly quick to be up and running again--as long as your data partition is separated!
