Sometimes I despair of the world we live in, but then there are experiences that restore a bit of faith!
In my current quest to gain a bit of a better base to my Linux knowledge and widen my experiences a bit, I'm making an effort to have a play with distributions not based on Debian. To this end, I installed unetbootin on my Mepis machine. This, of course, provided by the packaging community. In order to try out something completely different, but which seems to me to be quite similar to Mepis in spirit I downloaded the latest PCLinuxOS Gnome edition. As you may know, this is also a community effort, as the official PCLOS uses KDE 3.5. I installed PCLOS onto a USB drive that I'd bought off eBay (Arguably another community!) perfectly, without any issues!
I like to think I do a little bit to contribute to this fantastic Linux family but everyone involved in making possible what I did this afternoon truly deserve our admiration and gratitude! You Rock!!!
