Warren has announced Release Candidate 1 of the new version based on Debian Lenny and KDE 4.3. We are getting close now, with a few features still finishing. Testing results should be posted in the the MepisLovers thread.

A second release candidate has been announced by anticapitalista. Dependency-based booting is now enabled for the LiveCD, apps have been updated, and Wicd is functional again. Testers should post results in the announcement thread.

Warren has announced the release of the fifth and probably last beta of MEPIS 8.5. He notes that "the major packages are locked in" at this point, though some of the MEPIS components are still in late development. Testing for bugs is needed, with reports to this thread. Won't be long now...

Anticapitalista has made available the first release candidate of antiX 8.5 for testing. In addition to fixing bug reports, this release has been updated to the most recent Debian Testing. Testers should report on the original thread or on the antiX forum.

A New Year's release of a new beta is available. After "a lot work on the look and feel of the KDE4 desktop," Warren comments that "It isn't final, but I think it's very close." Community input continues to be important in this development cycle, so testers are needed to provide feedback in the bug list on MepisLovers.

Just in time for the holidays, a third beta is up on the usual mirrors. Warren notes in his announcement that now the KDE 4.3.4 desktop and 2.6.32.2 kernel are included, along with Community-suggested improvements. We need continued testing, and any bugs can be posted in this MepisLovers thread.

Featuring an upgraded KDE 4.3, a second beta has been posted on the usual mirrors. In his announcement, Warren comments that Community suggestions have been incorporated into this version, with others to come later. Please help with the testing if you can, and post any bugs you find in the MepisLovers thread.

Incorporating fixes to networking and menus, as well as using the latest MEPIS kernel, antix 8.5 Beta 2 is available from this repo and should be seen soon on the mirrors. Community developer anticapitalista has created a thread for feedback, which can also be posted in the the antiX forum. Testers needed!
