MEPIS Documentation consists of two separate projects that are closely related: The MEPIS Wiki and the MEPIS Linux User's Manual. Although these two documents share a certain amount of basic information, they are designed to meet very different user needs.
Wiki
The traditional user documentation is the MEPIS wiki, which is composed of a large number of entries on individual topics accessible in three ways:
- through the tree-structure index that begins on the home page
- through the search engines
- through large categories (Networking, Hardware, etc.)
Wiki entries can be written and edited by anyone in the user community who has registered, see this page.
Manual
Wiki entries were essential in the creation of the more recent Documentation Project, the MEPIS Linux User's Manual. Unlike the Wiki, the Manual was designed to be read from front to back, leading the user from installation through configuration to basic and advanced use. Written over the Summer of 2007 by several members of the MEPIS Community, the Manual was included by MEPIS developer Warren Woodford with the release of MEPIS Linux 7.0 in December 2007. In addition to being accessible through a desktop link, the Manual is also available off the Quick Links entry on the menu bar of the MepisLovers site.
If you would like to help work on updating the Manual for MEPIS 8.0, send a message to the editor, or use the contact page to address the Content Webmaster.
