Kde 4 and Mepis

First let me say I have not been a fan of KDE 4, and my intention is to stay with KDE 3.5.10 for some time, (Intentions are subject to change). However there has been increasing praise for KDE 4.2 in the blogosphere. My concern is that the release of Mepis 8.0 will be considered by many behind the times by not adopting KDE 4.2, (or 4.3 if it is then available).
Assuming my concern is correct, I can think of several ways to mitigate this concern, some of which may be undesirable, but nevertheless here are my thoughts:
1. Delay the introduction of 8.0 until Warren can test and become comfortable with KDE 4.2
2. Release 8.0 in DVD format and provide an option at the kdm login screen to use KDE 3 or KDE 4
3. Provide an easy official Mepis sanctioned way through the repositories to install KDE 4, while retaining KDE and providing the option stated in item 2.
4. Make a KDE 4 remastered Mepis 8 more official, using anitiX as a model. Danum has provided these remasters unofficially and is soon to provide one based on the KDE 4.2 release.
5. Continue the Mepis 8.0 release as planned and follow up as soon as possible with a KDE 4 release (Mepis 8.5?)
There are probably other options I have not thought of. To reiterate I have less interest in KDE 4 than many people. The purpose would be to make Mepis 8.0 more desirable to a larger number of Linux users.
I would be interested in others thoughts on this.
